In 2020 Taunton Girls Softball league begin to field a competitive College Showcase Team to play at the highest level! Our team is geared for players looking to play at the college level after high school. Our players are required to attend college recruiting classes, create skills videos, and contact college coaches/recruiters throughout the year. Players are also required to attend additional skills clinics at different college campuses when the opportunity presents itself.
We are thrilled to announce that Peter Fernandes, Assistant Coach of the Emerson College Softball team, will be returning as the Head Coach of our Typhoons Showcase Team! Peter brings to the table years of experience including player and coaching experience at the recreational, travel and college level.
Also included in this program will be the opportunity to work with our league’s pitching instructor Kate Gauthier and take part in our pitching off-season program. In addition to our pitching program, we will be offering catching instruction with our league catching instructor, Noelle Sass, a strength and conditioning program, as well as 1 on 1 instruction with several top college coaches.
WHAT DOES TAUNTON GIRLS SOFTBALL OFFER?
- Taunton Girls Softball League host 4 of the most popular showcase events in the region. This is a great chance for our players to interact with regional college coaches during these events right in our own backyard.
- Taunton Girls Softball has built a strong partnership with USA Softball of Massachusetts to help develop, strengthen, and build our town recreational softball programs in Massachusetts to keep softball available to all girls who want to play for the love the game!
- Our league has 5 well-maintained fields and year-round access to our own indoor practice facility located in downtown Taunton. Our facility offers 3 pitching lanes, 5 tee stations, 2 hitting cages, & open practice space to work all year long on softball fundamentals.
- All players receive two sets of uniforms, a batting helmet and bat bag (helmets and bat bags are replaced every 2 years for returning players).
